Organisational identity
The EF Legacy of Purpose Foundation is a South African purpose-driven, non-profit humanitarian organisation founded by Nokulunga Sweetness Shabalala in honour of her mother, Sr. Elizabeth Funie Shabalala (1959–2025), a nurse whose working life was spent restoring dignity to people at their most vulnerable.
The Foundation exists to continue that work in a structured, accountable and institutional form. It was not created as a memorial gesture. It was created as a responsibility.

Mission
To restore dignity, open doors and strengthen people — through food relief, menstrual dignity, education support, emotional restoration, leadership development and creative healing.
Vision
A society in which no person is reduced by their circumstances, and in which help arrives without humiliation.

Programme areas
- Feed a Family — food relief for households in crisis, delivered without humiliation.
- Give a Girl Dignity — menstrual health support so that no girl misses school because of her period.
- School Journey — school fees, uniforms, shoes and learning materials for children at risk of exclusion.
- Healing and Purpose — emotional restoration, purpose discovery and healing conversations.
- Youth Empowerment — leadership development and mentorship for young people.
- Creative Healing — writing, music and spoken word as instruments of recovery.
- Community Care — targeted community outreach and partnership-led response.
Legacy Village
The Legacy Village is the Foundation's long-term capital project: a permanent, architecturally planned place of shelter, learning, healing and dignity. It is being developed in phases against a founding capital target of R5 000 000 and beyond.

Governance, leadership and safeguarding
The Foundation is led by a Founder and an emerging executive team, supported by ambassadors, volunteers and partner organisations. Leadership is deliberately being built for continuity beyond the Founder.

Safeguarding
The Foundation maintains published policies covering child protection and safeguarding, community guidelines, volunteer conduct, donation handling, anti-fraud and anti-corruption, conflict of interest, data retention and privacy. All policies are publicly available in the Trust Centre.
Section 6
Accountability and reporting position
The Foundation's service began before every formal reporting system was fully established. Stronger processes for programme records, financial accountability, monitoring, evaluation and transparent reporting are now being built.
Until verified figures are available, the Foundation will not publish estimated beneficiary numbers as fact. Evidence may include receipts, redacted school confirmations, anonymised programme totals, protected internal records and consented reporting.
Public reporting will never require children, families or individuals to surrender their privacy in exchange for proof that help was received.
