Feed A Family
A relief program placing groceries on the tables of households navigating crisis, retrenchment, illness or displacement — delivered with dignity and consistency.
Mission
Why this program exists.
Feed A Family meets one of the most basic human needs — a meal — without paperwork that shames, queues that exhaust, or charity that condescends. We exist so that no family supported by the EF Legacy of Purpose Foundation goes a week wondering where the next meal will come from.
Objectives
What we are working toward.
- Identify households in genuine, verifiable need through churches, schools and community leaders rather than open online lists.
- Provide consistent food support rather than once-off handouts, so families can plan and stabilise.
- Pair every parcel with a follow-up conversation: how is the household actually doing?
- Build a referral pathway into our Healing & Purpose and Youth Empowerment programs so food relief leads somewhere.
Who We Serve
The people at the centre of this work.
Single-parent households where income has been lost or interrupted.
Elderly caregivers raising grandchildren on a single grant.
Families recovering from retrenchment, serious illness or bereavement.
Households displaced by fire, flooding or domestic crisis.
How It Works
From need to response.
- Step 1
Referral
A partner church, school, social worker or community leader refers a household. Self-referrals are welcomed through our Contact form.
- Step 2
Listening visit
A volunteer connects with the family to understand the real picture — household size, dietary needs, immediate emergencies, longer-term hopes.
- Step 3
Parcel preparation
Parcels are prepared from donor contributions and partner suppliers, prioritising staples that stretch into multiple meals.
- Step 4
Delivery with dignity
Parcels are delivered directly to the home or to a discreet pick-up point. No public lists, no photographs of recipients without consent.
- Step 5
Follow-through
We check in regularly, adjust the support, and offer onward referrals to our other programs as appropriate.
How To Help
Practical ways to get involved.
- Donate a once-off or recurring contribution earmarked for Feed A Family.
- Sponsor a household for a season (typically three to six months).
- Volunteer for packing, delivery, or follow-up calls in your area.
- Refer a family in genuine need through our Contact form.
- Open your church, school or workplace as a drop-off point.
- Partner as a supplier of staples, fresh produce or hygiene goods.
Success Metrics
How we measure what matters.
We report progress honestly. Until verified figures are published in our annual impact report, we measure success against these qualitative commitments — not invented numbers.
Every referred household is contacted within seven days of referral.
No supported family goes more than a planned interval without follow-up.
Every parcel is paired with a recorded listening conversation.
Every donation earmarked for Feed A Family is reported against in our annual transparency report.
Onward referrals into Healing & Purpose, Youth Empowerment or Give A Girl Dignity are tracked and offered where appropriate.
Verified impact figures are published in our Impact Reports and Transparency pages as programs mature.
