Community Care

Grassroots outreach, partnerships and seasonal initiatives co-designed with the communities we serve — never imposed from the outside.

Mission

Why this program exists.

Community Care is how the Foundation shows up in a neighbourhood without parachuting in. We listen first, partner with what already exists, and let local leaders shape what care looks like. It is the connective tissue between our other programs and the real life of a community.

Objectives

What we are working toward.

  • Identify and partner with existing community leaders, churches and organisations rather than competing with them.
  • Run seasonal initiatives — back-to-school, winter warmth, festive support — alongside local partners.
  • Provide a route for individuals to volunteer locally without needing to travel.
  • Document needs and gaps so future programs are shaped by real evidence.

Who We Serve

The people at the centre of this work.

Communities where a local partner has invited us in — not communities we have chosen unilaterally.

Households who fall through the cracks of formal social support.

Local leaders and volunteers who carry the weight of their neighbourhoods.

Schools and clinics needing a coordinated response to a specific need.

How It Works

From need to response.

  1. Step 1

    Invitation

We respond to invitations from local churches, schools, community leaders or partner organisations — we do not arrive uninvited.

  2. Step 2

    Listening

We spend time understanding the community, the existing actors, the gaps and the genuine asks.

  3. Step 3

    Co-design

An initiative is shaped together with local partners, with clear roles, budgets and timelines.

  4. Step 4

    Delivery

We deliver with local partners — staff, volunteers and resources blended visibly so the community sees its own people leading.

  5. Step 5

    Handover

Where possible, ownership is handed to the local partner with our continued support, rather than building dependency on the Foundation.

How To Help

Practical ways to get involved.

  • Invite us into your community through the Contact form.
  • Volunteer locally for an initiative in your neighbourhood.
  • Sponsor a seasonal drive (back-to-school, winter warmth, festive).
  • Partner as a church, school, clinic or community organisation.
  • Donate to the Community Care fund through our Donate page.

Success Metrics

How we measure what matters.

We report progress honestly. Until verified figures are published in our annual impact report, we measure success against these qualitative commitments — not invented numbers.

  • Every initiative has a named local partner and a written scope of work.

  • Local leadership is visible and credited in every public communication.

  • Initiatives are reviewed jointly with the partner at the close of each cycle.

  • Resources stay accountable: every rand or item is reported against the agreed scope.

  • We are willing to say no — or to step back — when a community is better served by another organisation.

Verified impact figures are published in our Impact Reports and Transparency pages as programs mature.
