A Life Remembered
Determination, learning and quiet service
Thembisile Nozizwe Bridget Shabalala was born on 10 April 1983. She is remembered first as a beloved daughter and sister: a young woman who carried herself with determination, who accepted responsibility, and who made her family proud.
She attended Jameson Secondary School and completed her matric at Benoni College in 2001. Her education continued at Capricorn FET College, where she also gave her time to student leadership. As a member of the Students’ Representative Council, she was responsible for hostel affairs — a role that asked for care, accountability and the trust of her peers.
Through UNISA she completed Human Rights and Healthy Lifestyles in 2007 under the Centre for Community Training and Development, and she also finished the Conduct Outcomes-Based Assessment Assessor Course, strengthening her knowledge in education and skills development. In 2009 she completed her National Diploma in Marketing Management.
The Path She Was Building
A developing professional trusted with growing responsibility
Thembisile put her learning into practice at Buhle Farmers’ Academy. She began as a Logistics Officer and, over time, moved into business liaison work. Her commitment and reliability were recognised when she was promoted to a role involving organisational development.
In that role she helped strengthen the Academy’s professional relationships, including liaison with AgriSETA. The trust placed in her was also shown when she was sent to Ficksburg in the Free State to address farmers directly — a responsibility that reflected confidence in her knowledge and leadership.
Her pursuit of growth took her beyond South Africa: she travelled to the Netherlands for further courses intended to deepen her academic knowledge and professional qualifications.
Each step showed the same qualities her family remembers — a willingness to learn, a readiness to serve, and the discipline to keep moving forward.
Legacy
Her achievements, her personhood, her memory
Thembisile’s education and career matter because they reveal the direction her life was taking. She was not only a daughter and sister: she was a young woman continuing to learn, lead and contribute. Her studies, her SRC service, her professional growth and her willingness to travel in search of further knowledge all speak of promise and purpose.
Her life was shorter than her family wished, and her passing left a lasting emptiness. Yet her name, her love, her work and the memory of who she was becoming remain.
Rest in eternal peace, Thembisile Nozizwe Bridget Shabalala. You were deeply loved, you are lovingly remembered, and you will never be forgotten.
