Give A Girl Dignity

Menstrual health education, dignity packs and ongoing support for girls in under-resourced schools and communities — delivered with schools, churches and trusted local women.

Mission

Why this program exists.

Period poverty quietly removes girls from classrooms. Give A Girl Dignity exists so that menstruation is never the reason a girl misses school, drops out, or feels less than. We provide both the practical supplies and the honest conversations young women deserve.

Objectives

What we are working toward.

  • Distribute dignity packs through schools and trusted partners, not through public collection points.
  • Pair every pack distribution with age-appropriate menstrual health education.
  • Equip teachers, mothers and youth leaders to continue the conversation after we leave.
  • Listen for related needs — uniforms, school shoes, safe transport — and respond within our means or refer onward.

Who We Serve

The people at the centre of this work.

Girls in under-resourced primary and secondary schools.

Young women in church youth groups and community programs without reliable access to menstrual products.

Girls in child-headed households where adult guidance on menstrual health is limited.

Teachers and mothers who want better tools to support the girls in their care.

How It Works

From need to response.

  1. Step 1

    Partner engagement

We partner with a school, church or community organisation that knows the girls and can host the program responsibly.

  2. Step 2

    Needs assessment

Together we confirm numbers, age bands, language, cultural considerations and any safeguarding concerns.

  3. Step 3

    Dignity packs

Packs are assembled with sanitary products, underwear where appropriate, and basic hygiene items — sourced from donors and partner suppliers.

  4. Step 4

    Education session

A trained facilitator leads an honest, respectful conversation about the menstrual cycle, hygiene, consent and self-worth.

  5. Step 5

    Ongoing access

We leave a replenishment plan with the partner so girls have a way to access supplies between visits.

How To Help

Practical ways to get involved.

  • Sponsor a school, a class or a single girl for a year of dignity packs.
  • Donate sanitary products, new underwear or hygiene items in bulk.
  • Volunteer as a facilitator, packer or logistics helper (women only for distribution).
  • Open your school or church as a partner site.
  • Donate funds earmarked for Give A Girl Dignity through our Donate page.
  • Refer a school or community where the program is urgently needed.

Success Metrics

How we measure what matters.

We report progress honestly. Until verified figures are published in our annual impact report, we measure success against these qualitative commitments — not invented numbers.

  • Every partner school receives a clear replenishment plan, not a one-off drop.

  • Education sessions are delivered in the language the girls are most comfortable in.

  • Safeguarding policies are signed by every facilitator and partner site.

  • Distribution is private — no public photos of recipients without informed consent.

  • Feedback is collected from partner teachers each cycle and used to improve the program.

Verified impact figures are published in our Impact Reports and Transparency pages as programs mature.
