Donation Policy

Every contribution carries the dignity of the giver and the dignity of the person it serves. This policy explains how we honour both.

1. Our commitment to donors

Sister EF Legacy of Purpose Foundation accepts donations from individuals, corporates, churches, schools, foundations and community groups. Every donation is treated with gratitude, accountability and care.

2. Accepted donation types

  • One-time donations toward general operations or a specific program.
  • Monthly recurring donations.
  • Corporate sponsorships tied to a program or community project.
  • In-kind donations (food, hygiene packs, books, equipment) subject to acceptance.
  • Legacy gifts left to the Foundation through a will or estate.

3. How funds are allocated

Unrestricted donations are allocated by the Board to the area of greatest need. Restricted donations (where the donor specifies a program) are used exclusively for that program, save where it would be impractical to do so — in which case we contact the donor before re-allocating.

Programme delivery is our first call on every Rand received, with the balance covering the essential operations, compliance and infrastructure that make those programmes possible. We do not publish a fixed allocation percentage unless it has been formally adopted and can be evidenced.

4. Receipts and acknowledgements

  • Every donor receives an email acknowledgement within five working days.
  • Section 18A tax-deduction certificates can only be issued once the Foundation holds Section 18A approval and the donor has provided the required information. Where approval is not yet in place, we say so rather than implying entitlement.
  • Anonymous donations are honoured; no acknowledgement is sent unless requested.

5. Refunds

Donations are non-refundable except where made in error. Refund requests must be made in writing within 14 days of payment to info@eflegacy.org. We will respond within five working days.

6. Donor recognition

We recognise donors through our Wall of Honour, published reports and programme updates. Donors may choose to give anonymously and may withdraw recognition at any time.

7. Refused donations

The Foundation reserves the right to decline a donation that conflicts with our values, would expose us to reputational harm, or could compromise our independence. Refused donations are returned in full.

8. Data and privacy

Donor information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We never sell or rent donor data.

9. Reporting

Reporting on income, expenditure and programme impact is published as it is verified, in aggregate and redacted form. Qualified funders and reviewers may request controlled, redacted information through our due-diligence process.

10. Contact

For donation enquiries or to discuss giving options, contact info@eflegacy.org.

Questions about this policy? Email info@eflegacy.org and a member of our team will respond within five working days.
